Learn how to live the power of paradox.
January 12, 2022
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Our capacity to embrace paradox is one of the core principles in Selfistry. The theory — and practice — of inhabiting polarities claims that seemingly opposing perspectives can co-exist in a generative way. In fact, learning how to inhabit the polarities that we grapple with in every aspect of our lives just might be the key to ensuring our species survival.
This seminar is an opportunity to get curious about opposites. Choose any polarity: for example, structure and freedom, alone and together, or active and passive. Now consider: are the poles opposing or complimentary?
Are they sometimes opposing and other times complimentary?
Can they be both opposing and complimentary simultaneously?
In this two-hour seminar you will:
- Explore the definition and interpretation of a paradox.
- Learn a way to map polarities.
- Practice identifying where we land on any given polarity continuum at any given time.
- Experiment with inhabiting apparent opposites in our own bodies and psyches.
This seminar is meant to be an introduction to this powerful tool and lens. In addition to the live recorded seminar there will be a Q & A session on Friday, January 14, from 12 – 1:30 pm pacific. Participants will be encouraged to challenge and practice their learning once the seminar has ended, and are invited to bring that learning process into the Selfistry community for ongoing experimentation and development.
